Learning to Reflect
Each year, I select a word to focus on as a source of inspiration and tone. Last year, my word was brave. Who knew when I selected that word it how much it was going to apply to my year! This year, my word is INTENTIONAL. As I have begun my intentional journey, I took the concept a step further and selected an additional word for each month around which I would design my content for Create Harmony.
For February, my second word is REFLECT. So, as I am intentional throughout the whole year, I will reflect more frequently in February. After having dismantled the life I had before the pandemic, I want to reflect on what I have learned, what I want to keep, what I want to discard.
This reflection time has been fulfilling in many ways. In addition, it has pushed me to ask myself what I am reflecting to others. My deepest desire is to reflect God’s love in my attitudes and actions. However, I confess that some days, I am probably reflecting something more aligned with impatience or at best apathy. It is easy to see when others fall short in their reflecting but harder to get myself back on track.
The love that God is reflecting at me is filled with grace and patience. I always get another chance to choose…another chance to refocus my eyes on compassion and kindness. Grace and peace are always available.
Reflect is an action word, so it is will require action on my part. Hopefully, I can make that action intentional along the way. If you follow me on social media, be on the lookout for posts about ways to reflect! Also, below is a guided mediation with a reflection theme.
Today’s blessing:
Behold God beholding you and smiling.
